POSITION DESCRIPTION   (Printer Friendly Version)

Listing a Placement with the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (CSLCE):

The mission of the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (CSLCE) is to provide active, service-focused, community-based, mutually beneficial, integrated, learning opportunities for students, building and enhancing their commitment to academics, personal and professional development, and civic responsibility. Students may engage in voluntary service and engagement experiences to fulfill course requirements, to augment curriculum, and/or for personal motivations related to the public good.

Students will be referred to you after applying/registering for the service-learning or civic/community engagement position(s) you have posted with the CSLCE. Some students will interview with a CSLCE advisor or attend an orientation prior to being referred to your agency. Each will bring you a CSLCE referral letter, or you will receive notification from the CSLCE that the student will be reporting to you. MSU students must complete a CSLCE application/registration to engage in service. This insures that the student is indemnified and it is used to provide a record of service and referral data for staff recruitment. Applications are available on the web site and in room 27 Student Services Building.
