Summary of the findings of service-learning research in higher education over the past few years. This also includes an annotated bibliography. It is designed to provide a quick overview of where we are in the field today and a map to the literature.

CART is organized into three main domains or categories of variables: Design and Implementation, Contact, and Outcome. It is assumed that in order to conduct a high-quality study, one would need to understand some components of each of these main categories of variables to answer questions about efficacy and effectiveness of a youth development program. Within each of these sections, there are multiple attributes or properties that could bee assessed.

This is a nonprofit organization that promotes health through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions. Founded in 1996, they are a growing network of over 1,500 communities and campuses across North America and increasingly the world that are collaborating to promote health through service-learning, community-based participatory research, broad-based coalitions and other partnership strategies. These partnerships are powerful tools for improving higher education, civic engagement and the overall health of communities.

green-cube.png International Association for The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE): Advances in Service-Learning Research: Volumes 1-7
and community The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) is an international, non-profit organization devoted to promoting research and discussion about service-learning engagement. IARSLCE was launched in 2005, and incorporated in 2007. Advances in Service-Learning Research is a series of volumes of papers developed from the annual research conference. Conference presenters are invited to submit manuscripts for consideration that are based upon their conference presentations.

The Learn and Serve America National Service-Learning Clearinghouse (NSLC) supports the service-learning community in higher education, kindergarten through grade twelve, community-based initiatives and tribal programs, as well as all others interested in strengthening schools and communities using service-learning techniques and methodologies.
