Campus Compact is a coalition of nearly 1,100 college and university presidents, representing some 6 million students, who are committed fulfilling the public purposes of higher education. As the only national association dedicated to this mission, Campus Compact is a leader in building civic engagement into campus and academic life.
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching: Community Engagement Classification
Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Elective Classification
The new classification for Community Engagement is an elective classification, meaning it is based on voluntary participation by institutions. Whereas the Foundation’s all-inclusive classifications involve secondary analysis of existing national data sources available for all institutions, elective classifications involve additional data collection and documentation, with substantial effort invested by participating institutions. Elective classifications enable the Foundation’s classification system to recognize important aspects of institutional mission and action that are not represented in the national data.

Higher Education Network for Community Engagement (HENCE)
HENCE is a response to the growing need to deepen, consolidate, and advance the literature, research, practice, policy, and advocacy for community engagement as a core element of higher education’s role in society. Increasingly, higher education institutions are intentionally connecting academic work to public purposes through extensive partnerships that involve faculty, staff, and students in active collaboration with communities. This idea of “community engagement” is renewing the civic mission of higher education and transforming academic culture in ways that are both exciting and challenging.
International Association for The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE): Advances in Service-Learning Research: Volumes 1-7
The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) is an international, non-profit organization devoted to promoting research and discussion about service-learning and community engagement. IARSLCE was launched in 2005, and incorporated in 2007. Advances in Service-Learning Research is a series of volumes of papers developed from the annual research conference. Conference presenters are invited to submit manuscripts for consideration that are based upon their conference presentations.

Michigan Campus Compact promotes the education and commitment of Michigan college students to be civically engaged citizens through creating and expanding academic, co-curricular and campus-wide opportunities for community service, service-learning and civic engagement.
President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll-Corporation for
National and Community Service
This Honor Roll responds to President Bush’s call to service by building on and supporting the civic engagement mission of our nation’s colleges and universities. This new recognition program is designed to increase public awareness of the contributions that college students are making within their local communities and across the country through volunteer service.
