Would you like to volunteer at a hospital?
The Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (CSLCE) works collaboratively with two local hospitals, Sparrow Health Systems and Ingham Regional Medical Center. The CSLCE places 300-500 students into these hospitals per semester. Since you are a student, the ONLY way to volunteer in the hospitals is through the CSLCE. e, depending on if you are a MSU student or a non-MSU students there are different ways to apply for a position.
Hospital Program Overview
- Volunteer approximately four hours per week for an entire MSU semester
- Complete the semester with a maximum of two absences
- Attend a hospital orientation
- Subject to a background check
- Produce a “negative” TB test result
Fall Semester 09
- Enrollment is CLOSED for Fall Semester. Please try again in Spring 2010. Enrollment begins Friday, January 8, 2010 at 8am.
MSU STUDENTS:
Apply for positions at www.servicelearning.msu.edu (Click on “Find a Service Opportunity” and following the directions.)
NON-MSU STUDENTS:
As a non-msu student, you are unable to access the online application. Therefore, below are the steps to take to apply for a position at either one of the hospitals.
- Select at which hospital you would like to volunteer
- Review the unit descriptions and select three (3) volunteer options that interest you
- Email Tina Houghton at hought17@msu.edu with the following information on August 28 starting at 8:00am. (No requests will be honored prior to this date/time.)
- Full name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number
- Three (3) placement options including, include unit name, number, and times that you are available in 4-hour blocks
IMPORTANT: After securing your placement, complete the requirements for the appropriate hospital (requirements listed under the hospital below)
